Proof that Jesus Christ is God

Explore what God’s Word says about Jesus Christ. Observe what others have said about Him and what He has said about Himself. Consider, the works that He did and the fulfilled prophecies regarding His coming. Look over the proof that Jesus Christ is God and decide for yourself based on the evidence.

Either He is who He said He was, or He is the greatest fraud in the history of mankind. No other person has evoked more emotion-positive or negative in the minds of mankind than Jesus Christ. He claimed to be God because He is God-but that true claim brought the ire of many against Him. It is Jesus Christ who separates the major religions of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity.  It is Jesus Christ who said that He is the only way to the Father. It is Jesus Christ who said that He is the source of eternal life. It is Jesus Christ who healed the sick, raised the dead, set free those bound by sin, died on the cross and rose from dead, and is coming again.

You will see that He was there to create the world. We can observe that He had a plan to save humanity when they rebelled against Him. He claimed to be God and proved it through His works. Every prophecy regarding Him has been fulfilled or will be fulfilled. The proof that Jesus Christ is God is overwhelming.

But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.  Jeremiah 10:10

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. 1 John 5:20

Videos explaining the proof that Jesus Christ is God

We encourage you to take some time and watch these videos. These videos will explain and give Biblical proof as to why Jesus Christ is God!

Consider the actual words of Jesus Christ

Did Jesus Christ ever claim to be God or did He ever receive worship? Did Jesus ever do anything that only God could do? What did He say about Himself? Consider Christ’s own words as proof that Jesus Christ is God.

1

Jesus said that He is: the Christ (the Messiah), the Son of the Blessed (Almighty God), the Son of God and the Son of Man

Consider the following verses:

  • The Son of Man receives an eternal kingdom–a kingdom without end.

Daniel 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

  • Jesus claims to be the prophesied Son of Man who would receive the kingdom. He claims to be the Christ. He claims to be the Son of God. He claims to be God!

Mark 14:60  And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? 61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? 62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? 64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

  • Jesus was asked about the end of the world and when He was going to come again. Jesus says that before He comes the second time – many false Christs will come and finally the Anti-Christ will deceive the entire world. Then Jesus Christ will come the second time in the clouds. Notice Jesus is quoting from the prophecy given in Daniel to speak about His second coming. Jesus calls Himself the Son of Man throughout the entire chapter. Consider Matthew 24:3-5, and 24:15, and 24:29-30

Matthew 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

  • Christ again says, “I am the Son of Man – But who do others say I am?”

Matthew 16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

John 4:25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

2

Jesus Christ said that He is the Only Way to God and Heaven.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

  • A thief recognized his condition (a guilty sinner). He understood and agreed that he deserved punishment (ultimately in Hell). He recognized and confessed that Jesus is Lord. He professed that he believed that Jesus Christ was King with a coming Kingdom. He asked Jesus to remember him, save him, give him mercy. Jesus Christ seeing the heart and true belief and complete faith – guaranteed the man eternal life in Paradise with Christ. JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN! WE MUST HAVE COMPLETE FAITH IN HIM ALONE AND TRUST WHAT HE DID FOR US ON THE CROSS–HE GAVE HIS LIFE, DIED AND SHED HIS BLOOD FOR OUR SIN. AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD.  THIS IS OUR ONLY WAY. THIS IS THE TRUTH. THIS IS WHO GIVES LIFE! JESUS CHRIST.

Luke 23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

3

Jesus Christ said that He and God the Father were one.

John 10:24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. 25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. 26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and my Father are one.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

4

Jesus said He is the Son of God and received worship.

John 9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? 36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? 37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. 38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

John 11:23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. 24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? 27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

Joh 20:24  But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. 26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Jesus Christ told Satan not to tempt Him- the Lord thy God!

* Satan was tempting Jesus Christ- trying to get Christ to prove that He is the Son of God. On the last two of the three attempts, Satan asks Jesus Christ to worship Satan and then to throw himself off the temple.  Jesus Christ responds by saying that you are to only worship the Lord thy God and that you are not to tempt the Lord thy God! In other words–you are tempting the Lord thy God and Scripture commands you to not do that!

Luke 4:3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. 5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
Luk 4:7  If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: 10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: 11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

*Interesting to note–the Jesus Christ said that all are only to worship the Lord God. As laid out in section 4, there are many examples of people worshipping Jesus Christ and He received their worship. By His action of receiving the worship – Christ was expressing that He is the Lord God.

6

Jesus Christ said He would die on the cross and rise again from the dead on the third day.

Matthew 12:38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Matthew 17:22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: 23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

Mat 20:17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, 18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, 19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

Luke 24:36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? 42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. 43 And he took it, and did eat before them. 44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

7

Jesus Christ said if we don’t believe that He is God, and our only way of salvation–then we will die in our sins. Christ said that he is the only way of everlasting life.

John 8:21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. 22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. 23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

John 7:37  In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

John 6:32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. 36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. 37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

8

Jesus said He existed before Abraham – thus, claiming that He is eternal.

*Abraham lived hundreds and hundreds of years before the birth of Christ at Bethlehem. Yet, Christ claims to have existed before Abraham.

John 8:49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me. 50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth. 51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. 52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. 53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? 54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: 55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

God says that He is the First and the Last who made all things!

“Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last. Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.” Isaiah 48:12-13

  • It is Jehovah God–of the Bible that calls to His people and reminds them that He is the Creator, the all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-present God!

Jesus Christ says that He is the First and the Last–thus claiming that He is God

  • It is Jesus Christ, who uses the same title, and claims the same characteristics that Jehovah God–Yahweh–the God of Bible claimed.

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Revelation 1:17-18

  • Jesus is speaking here. We see that He says that he lived, was dead, and now is alive again–Jesus was alive, died on the cross, and rose from the dead!
  • Jesus clearly says that He is the first and the last

Jesus Christ while sitting on the throne, says that He is the beginning and the end. Then He adds that He gives freely waters of life to whomever is thirsty! Then says, I will be that person’s God.

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.  And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. Revelation 21:5-7

  • Jesus promises to give spiritual living water that will give everlasting life to whomever asks!
  • Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:13-14

Jesus Christ is Creator of All

This world is a beautiful place. Every animal, plant, mountain, ocean, and human are the unique creation of God. Jesus Christ spoke the world into existence. All of the natural world is the wonderful creation of a loving and merciful God-Jesus Christ.

I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations. 25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. 26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: 27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end. Psalm 102:24-27

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Colossians 1:13-17

Jesus Christ is the visible Image of the Invisible God

In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: Colossians 1:14-15

God can’t be seen – However, God revealed Himself to humanity through His word the Bible and through “THE WORD” in the person of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is God. God wrapped Himself in human flesh and showed Himself to humanity in the person of Jesus Christ.  Jesus Christ is the Visible Image of the Invisible God.

The Bible says in Hebrews 1 that God spoke in different times and in different ways by the prophets. They prophecied about the coming Messiah or Anointed One of God–the Son of God.

In the days of the Gospels, God spoke directly to mankind through Jesus Christ–because Jesus Christ is God. Only God has the ability to create something from nothing. Here we see that the Son of God (Jesus Christ) created and made the worlds and everything that was created.

We see in Hebrews 1:3 that the Son of God (Jesus Christ), is the exact image of God, that He sustains all things, and that He has all power. We also see that He himself purged our sins–Only God has the power to forgive sins. We then see that He sat down at the right hand of the throne of God–Only God has the abilty to rule over all.

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Hebrews 1:1-3

“Jesus Christ is the express or exact image of God- because Jesus Christ is God who came in Human Flesh”

Jesus Christ is Lord of All and Loves All

Wherever you go in this world – there are people that Jesus Christ loves. Whether you live in a rural and distant place or a metropolis- Jesus Christ knows everything about you. He wants you to know Him, to understand what He did for you. Jesus Christ will one day rule on this earth as Lord of Lords and King of Kings. He knows about you- but, do you know Him?

The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) Acts 10:36

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: 1 John 3:16

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; Titus 3:4-6

Jesus Christ is God, the only true God.

There is only one God!

This One God consists of three equal members.

Humans are made in the image of God. We are made like Him in this manner- we also are 3 members in one body.

Genesis 1:26-27  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

*Notice the usage of the pronouns Us and Our in reference to God in verse 26. Then in verse 27, God returns to using the pronoun He in reference to himself.

God consists of God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit- THREE IN ONE.

Each human has a body, a soul, and a spirit. 3 members but only one individual human.

*How can three be one? Consider the following examples:

A book has many chapters–yet it is only one book.

A sports team may have multiple players–yet one team

A family has multiple members–yet one family

A person typically has two eyes, two arms, two ears, heart, 2 lungs, and etc–many parts–yet one person.

A triangle has 3 equal sides–yet only one triangle

To be honest–there is no physical illustration that can fully explain an unexplainable and all-knowing God. These are simply illustrations to attempt to help our limited minds understand a limitless God.

Biblical Proof that Jesus Christ is God

Jesus Christ is the visible Image of the Invisible God

Colossians 1:14-15 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Philippians 2:5-11  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Hebrews 1:1-3  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

  • Jesus Christ is the exact visible image of the invisible God. He is the brightness of God’s glory-When we see Christ we see God!

John 14:5-11  Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus Christ is “the Word” who spoke all of creation into existence-He is the Creator

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Jesus Christ had the same characteristics and abilities of God-because He is God

  • He forgives sin

Mar 2:5-11  When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee…. Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

Luke 7:47-50 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

  • He had power over Satan and devils

Luke 11:14-20 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. 15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. 16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.

  • He could read people’s thoughts

Luke 11:17-18&20 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.
Luke 11:18, 20 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. 20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

  • He performed many miracles: He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, gave hearing to the deaf, raised the dead, and many other things-Only God can do these things.

Mark 10:51-52  And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. 52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

  • He died for the sins of mankind and He rose from the dead

1 Corinthians 15:3-8 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

He sees all and knows all

Jesus Speaking with Nathanael

John 1:48-51 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. 49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. 50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these. 51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

Jessu speaking with the Woman at the Well

John 4:16-19 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. 17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: 18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. 19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

John 4:25-26 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

John 4:39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

A title of Jesus Christ is “The Word”

This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:6-7 KJV

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Revelation 19:11-16  And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Hebrews 4:12 -16 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

1 John 5:20

Jesus Christ is God- He exists as One God

  • We believe that the Bible teaches there is only One God. He has many names- Yahweh, Jehovah, Elohim, Adoni, and others. He has many attributes and characteristics. as well. We believe that God is eternal, all-knowing, all-powerful, and present everywhere at the same time.  He is holy, righteous, and just. He is merciful, gracious, forgiving, and loves all mankind.

  • We believe that the Bible teaches God is one God with 3 parts. God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. All three are equal in power, ability, and knowledge-

This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:6-7

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:1-3

  • We see in both John 1 and 1 John 5 the title “the Word”. This title refers to Jesus Christ. We see that “the Word” is One with the other two parts of the one Godhead.

Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. 25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. 26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.  John 10:24-30

But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. John 10:38

  • Jesus Christ is correctly claiming that He is one with the Father. He is claiming that equal with God the Father. He is saying that He has the same power and ability. He has the same characteristics and attributes as God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.

  • We believe the Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is 100% God. He is Equal with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. We believe in ONE GOD. WE DON’T BELIEVE IN THREE gods.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: Deuteronomy 6:4

For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward: Deuteronomy 10:17

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. Revelation 19:11-16

And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one. Zechariah 14:9

But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 1 Corinthians 8:6

*While this is a confusing concept- God has given us an example of this concept-

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Genesis 1:26-27

Consider the Human Being:

  • We believe that the Bible teaches mankind was created in the image or likeness of God. In other words, God created each human with 3 parts (Body, Soul, and Spirit). We do not say you are 3 people- you are one- with 3 parts.
  • Most People have two eyes, two ears, ten fingers, ten toes, and etc. We have many parts to our bodies- BUT WE ARE ONLY ONE PERSON!

Jesus Christ is the Visible Image of the Invisible God

*God is a Spirit and no one can see God. God clothed Himself in human flesh and revealed Himself and was called Jesus Christ. He is the visible image of the invisible God.

*The words express image in the following verse means exact and identical. So everything that God the Father is- Jesus Christ is exactly the same. He is simply the visible image of the invisible God.

*God is a Spirit. One can’t see God- He is invisible. Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God. No man has seen God the Father at any time.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. John 1:18

And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. John 5:37

*But since Jesus Christ is the image of God then man has seen God when they saw Jesus Christ. God revealed Himself to Mankind by wrapping Himself in Human Flesh called Jesus Christ. Therefore Jesus Christ is God clothed with Human Flesh.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. John 4:24-26

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6-9
